Singer-songwriter Lucy Langlas was born and raised in Montana, in a rural area called Echo canyon. She began writing music in high school and quickly began searching for ways to expand her experiences.
Having moved about from places like Los Angeles, New Orleans, and London for a brief spell, and now based in California, Langlas has a new album called Mountain, released Oct 19. The primarily minimal, acoustic songs blend nylon and steel string guitars, organ, and banjo-used not in a traditional approach, rather purely for texture and tone, and also bits of harmonica. Mountain clearly calls to mind wilderness and natural beauty, but also represents a force of energy and personal challenge.
